Kawasaki Ninja 250
Hello
I ordered a Scottoiler from you last year. I just ordered the
oil refill today, I'm not out of oil yet but the bottle is getting
low. I just thought I'd tell you that this oiler is wonderful.
I bought my bike, a '89 Kawasaki Ninja 250, back in May 2006. At
that time it had around 8 thousand miles on it. I've now got
16.5k miles, still on the original chain and it's also still at the
middle of the adjustment area, basically where it was when I bought
the bike. I commute daily throughout the year, rain or shine.
I occasionally get a little oil on the rear tire or fender but then I
just adjust the oil flow a little and it's fine.
Thanks again.

I thought I'd update you on my
impressions of the Scottoiler. It's now been on my new Interceptor for
5000 miles. The container of lube that comes with the kit should last
10-12 thousand miles. Once the original sticky chain lube is cleaned
off the new chain, the Scott lube keeps the chain clean and new
looking. Any lube thrown off onto the wheel is easily washed off as it
contains no 'sticky' chemicals.. wonderful if you pride yourself on a
clean motorcycle. I have yet to need a chain adjustment at this rate,
the chain should last as long as I keep the motorcycle. A full
under-seat container of lube lasts about 1000 miles. Having ridden
(and fiddled with) motorcycles for nearly forty years, I've purchased
dozens of after-market upgrades for my machines. Yours is truly the
best product I've ever bolted on a new motorcycle. Promises rarely
meet reality in the motorcycle aftermarket. Your product fulfils all
its promises. Thanks.

John Said 'I'm getting to like not having to oil my
chain.....
I've been watching this long dissertation and argument on the why's
and wherefore's of how to have the ScottOiler apply oil to the chain
with a smile. I have been using the ScottOiler on the same set of
chains and sprockets for nearly 50,000 miles. I've positioned the drip
tube about 1/2" above the outside linkage. I had it closer for awhile
but I broke it off once when pushing the bike in reverse when having
it closer. I positioned it there instead of in the center because the
oiler will continue to drip after riding the bike. If it is positioned
in the center it may drop thru directly onto the ground, if it is not
over a solid portion of the chain while parked.
As others have said.....it makes little difference where it is
located as long as the oil get onto the chain. The capillary action,
centrifugal force, and mechanical pumping from the moving chain
distribute it very evenly over the chain and sprockets. After riding a
couple hundred miles I'd bet no one could tell where the oil was
initially applied if they didn't know.
A comment on the chain companies, that say all you have to do is
spray WD40 every couple of hundred miles..................BULLSHIT.
I've used WD40 and other spray lubricants. Does doing it this way
lubricate...yes, but it does a piss poor job. My bike manual
recommends removing the chain every 500 miles and soaking it over
night in 90wt. axle oil and letting it drip dry. The best way is the
Scottoiler if you want a chain to last. It will pay for itself 3 or 4
times over by the time you make your first chain and sprocket
replacement. Think of all the business chain companies would loose if
everyone used a ScottOiler and not WD40.
Thats my opinion.
